NSW: Dodgy butcher on the hook for illegal preservative

A western Sydney butcher who illegally used a preservative in minced meat and sausages
.. has been fined seven thousand 500 dollars in a Sydney court.

The Chief Industrial Magistrates Court imposed the fine on Granville's Dan Dan Brothers
Butchers .. for illegal and excessive use of sulphur dioxide.

NSW Primary Industries Minister IAN MACDONALD says the butcher also passed off mutton
sausages as beef.

Mr MACDONALD says customers have a right to know what they're buying .. and promised
to continue cracking down on dodgy food practices.
